Add your devices ' mac address ' to your ' devices '. Once Mac Address is added select the Wi-Fi signal you want to connect to on the Alexa app. After you are connected to the Wi-Fi signal, wait for a couple for a minutes until Alexa echo dot is connected and you are ' online '. Once you are online, Alexa echo dot is ready for use. These instructions will work for the Echo or Echo Dot.
Your MAC address is a unique hardware identification number that identifies your device on the Hofstra network. You'll need your MAC address to complete the next step so be sure to write it down.

Alexa Echo Dot Mac Address Software
- If you don't already have it, download the Alexa app on to a mobile phone or tablet. You can scan the appropriate QR code below or visit the app store on your device to download the app.
- Once installed, launch the Alexa app. Depending on the version of the app you have the icon that may look slightly different.
- If prompted, sign in to your Amazon account.
- Tap the Hamburger/Menu icon on the top left of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Device Settings.
- Tap the name of your device from the list of devices.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page that opens and tap About.
- The MAC Address will be displayed here.
IMPORTANT!
To complete this step you need to use a computer or mobile phone connected to Hofstra's eduroam wireless network.
- From a computer or mobile device connected to Hofstra's eduroam wireless network, go to http://mydevices.hofstra.edu.
- Enter your Hofstra Portal username and password, then click Sign On.
- Click the Add button.
- Fill out the required information and click Submit.
What to do if you get a Device ID Already Exists error after clicking Submit.Device name: A descriptive name for your device
Device ID: The MAC/Physical address of your device you obtained in Step 1.
Description: A description of the device (i.e. color, edition, location). This is optional.
Echo Dot Mac Address
After registering your device please turn it completely off, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on before proceeding to the next step.
This device needs to be connected to the Hofstra Guest wireless network. It won't connect to eduroam.
Alexa Echo Dot Mac Address Finder
- If it isn't already, plug your Amazon Echo into a power source.
- Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- Tap the Hamburger/Menu icon towards the top left of the screen.
- Tap Add Device.
- Tap Amazon Echo.
- Choose the type of Echo you are connecting from the list shown.The instructions after this point were written using an Echo Dot. The exact instructions may vary slightly based on the type of device you are configuring. For exact instructions follow the prompts given to you in the Alexa app.
- If there are multiple versions of the device you are setting up, you will be prompted to select the exact device. Tap the device you are setting up.
- Tap Continue.
- If your device isn't already in Setup mode (spinning orange light), hold down the Action button on your echo device for about 6 seconds.
If you have trouble getting your device into setup mode, reset your echo device. When you reset your device it will take several minutes to get into Setup mode. Please be patient. - Once your device is in Setup mode, tap Continue on the Alexa app.
- You'll be asked to connect to a special wireless network your Echo device is broadcasting. Go to the wireless settings on your mobile device and connect to this network.
- Return to the Alexa app and tap Continue.
- Choose Hofstra Guest from the list of wireless networks shown.
- Tap Connect.
- Your Echo will connect to Hofstra Guest. This may take 20-30 seconds.
- Your device should now be connected to Hofstra Guest. Tap Continue and follow any remaining on-screen instructions to finish the Echo setup.
